Dan Darwall - Housemaster and Physics Teacher

Dan joined Dauntsey’s in 2015 and is Head of Fitzmaurice House and Teacher of Physics.

Prior to joining Dauntsey’s, Dan was Head of Physics at Stanwell School, Penarth, and he is also a Chartered Engineer.

What do you enjoy most about your subject?

Its application to the world around us. You can use it directly to solve problems and do interesting things.
The fact that you can teach it using such a variety of fun and exciting things.

What do you enjoy most about life at Dauntsey’s?

The nature of the staff and pupils.
The physical environment.

How do you spend your holidays/time out of school?

Maintaining or sailing our classic boat with my family. Usually around the European coasts.

Your favourite place on earth and why?

Karhamn Village on Seiland island in North Norway. It is an incredibly beautiful and peaceful place with wonderful extremes of weather.

If you could have a “superpower”, what would it be and why?

Time travel so that I could do more exciting things every day.
