The Duke of Edinburgh's Award Programme

The Duke of Edinburgh's Award Programme is a nationally and internationally recognised scheme which continues to be one of the most most highly regarded youth Awards. At Dauntseys, we offer Bronze and Gold levels and our numbers increase yearly. In 2012 we have 80 Bronze participants and 35 Gold; our completion rates are some of the highest in the country.

With encouragement and  guidance the pupils plan their own activities for the Volunteering, Skill and Physical sections and for Gold only, the Residential. In recent years we have offered options for the Gold expedition and these include Walking, Kayaking and for 2013, an overseas expedition to Morocco. We make the most of our fabulous Wiltshire countryside for the Bronze expeditions. We now work with specialist expedition companies whose knowledge and training ensures that our pupils receive the best possible experience.

We offer enrolment onto the Bronze Award at the start of fourth form and for Gold, pupils may either enrol at the end of fifth form or in the first term of Lower sixth.  Both levels require commitment, time management and enthusiasm but the rewards are high! The range of activities undertaken range from builidng a bicycle from scratch to learning Arabic, helping maintain the Kennet and Avon Canal to helping at a Brownie group. Pupils do not have to complete Bronze in order to enrol onto Gold.
