Joining the Manor

We recommend that potential Lower School Boarders and their families attend one of our Boarding Open Evenings which are held throughout the year. These include a presentation by the Head Master, a question and answer session with the House Parents and a guided tour of the Manor by pupils.

Entry to the Manor is usually in the First Form (Year 7) or the Thrid Form (Year 9).

Those entering the First Form will sit an entrance examination in January followed by an interview. Those who do particulary well may well be awarded Scholarships, and Music Awards are available subject to an audition.

Entrance in the Third Form (Year 9) is either by the Independent Schools' Common Entrance Examination or by applying for a Scholarship. There are a number of Scholarships available. Please use the link to find out more.

Prep School pupils in year 7 who are considering boarding at Dauntsey's in Year 9 are encouraged to come on the popular 'Taste of Boarding' programme, which is held in June. This provides an excellent opportunity to experience life at the Manor first-hand. Over two days, potential pupils stay overnight, participate in some lessons, sit an English and Mathematics test and have an informal interview with staff. They take part in a full programme of activities which usually includes an opportunity to sail on Jolie Brise, the School's famous gaff cutter.
