The Dauntsey's 100% Bursary Scheme

Dauntsey's School operates a 100% Bursary place scheme open to 11+, 13+ and 16+ entry. The scheme has been approved by Governors to widen access to the excellent education and development opportunities offered by Dauntsey's to children whose parents could never ordinarily contemplate private education on financial grounds.

It is intended to offer up to three places annually to a total of 21 available places. Selection for a 100% bursary place will mirror the usual admissions process for pupils applying for 11+ and 13+. Those applying for Sixth Form will be asked to sit papers at the same time as the Sixth Form Scholarship.

The first stage in the application process is to complete a Bursary Application Form and submit this to the Bursar. Initial selection will be based on the financial declaration on this form and eligible candidates will be invited to take the relevant entrance exams (Sixth Form and Third Form in November and First Form in January). Please see the admissions pages for details.

The Registrar will request a report from a candidate's current School in advance of the examinations and interviews. Following assessment, all applications for 100% bursaries will be subject to comprehensive means testing. Candidates selected for 100% bursaries will be notified in February 2017 and will not be identified within the School as benefiting from a bursary place.

All pupils in receipt of a bursary will have their academic progress and the family financial circumstances reviewed annually.

The bursary will cover all boarding or day fees and, depending on financial circumstances, will also provide funding for other specific essential academic activities. Parents will, however, be asked to make a contribution towards costs that they would normally incur in providing for their children. Individual tuition costs for music lessons and sports coaching and any specialist learning support lessons will be subject to a separate charge.

Scholarship Supplements

These are available to those who have been offered an academic scholarship or an award and are subject to means testing. The Scholarship Supplement Forms are available from the Admissions Office.

Bursaries for existing pupils

These are given each year to assist in cases of sudden, unforseen financial need. Parents or guardians with a child at School whose financial circumstances suddenly change may apply for a bursary. Such awards are subject to the availability of funding.
