Bursaries
The Dauntsey's 100% Bursary Scheme
Dauntsey's School operates a 100% Bursary place scheme. The scheme has been approved by Governors to widen access to the excellent education and development opportunities offered by Dauntsey's to children whose parents could never ordinarily contemplate private education on financial grounds.
It is intended to offer up to three places annually to an eventual total of 21 available places. Selection for a 100% bursary place will mirror the normal admission process for all other pupils. Potential applicants will need to meet at least the minimum academic standards necessary for entry to the school.
However, competition for places is such that in practice a candidate should be of scholarship potential as ultimately selection is most likely to be determined on academic potential. The selection process includes an entrance examination and interview together with a Head Teacher's report and recommendation from the pupil's current school. Candidates selected for 100% bursaries will not be identified within the School as benefitting from a bursary place.
The bursary will cover all boarding and day fees and, depending on financial circumstances, will also provide funding for other specific essential academic activities. Parents will, however, be asked to make a contribution towards costs that they would normally incur in providing for their children. Individual tuition costs for music lessons and sports coaching and any specialist learning support lessons will be subject to a separate charge.
All applications for 100% Bursaries will be subject to comprehensive means testing which will be reviewed and repeated annually.
Applications for the 100% Bursary Scheme for places in September 2012 are now closed. Applications for 2013 Entry will be invited in the Summer of 2012.
Bursaries for existing pupils are given each year to assist in cases of sudden, unforseen financial need. Parents or guardians with a child at School whose financial circumstances suddenly change may apply for a bursary. Such awards are subject to the availability of funding.
