Clubs and Societies
Dauntsey's prides itself on the huge range of Clubs and Societies that exist to provide enrichment and breadth to the academic curriculum. All clubs are run by enthusiastic members of staff and many of these clubs have been started at the direct request of pupils. The most successful Dauntseians are those who work hard and play hard.

EXTRA-CURRICULAR & ACADEMIC CLUBS
The numerous and wide-ranging extra-curricular clubs and societies at Dauntsey’s are designed to stimulate the interests of pupils in their free time. The options include: Debating, Chess Club, Beekeeping, Cyber Cafe, Art, Handicraft, Dance, and Warhammer and there’s even a Rocket Club. There is extra Greek for classicists, Mandarin Club for linguists, Pottery and Ceramics for artists and Science for inquisitive physicists and chemists. Members of the Potions Club have been busy making bath bombs and paper and the History and Geography Societies organise lectures from distinguished visiting speakers.
SPORTS CLUBS
The curriculum provides pupils with access to most traditional sporting activities and the many Sports Clubs provide extra coaching in most of these areas including: Athletics, Swimming, Squash, Cricket, Netball, Tennis, Basketball, Hockey and Rugby. There are also many Sports Clubs which cater for more unusual choices: Fly Fishing, Archery, Trampolining, Street Dance, Cheerleading, Fencing, Lacrosse, Equestrian and Sub-Aqua Clubs, to name but a few. Further adventure can be found on Duke of Edingburgh expeditions, the Devizes to Westminster canoe race, the Brecons Challenge and the Expedition and Mountaineering Society, which has taken pupils to far-flung places such as Morocco, Kenya, Corsica and Bhutan.
MUSIC
Dauntsey’s places great value and importance upon a good musical education and is justly proud of a distinguished reputation for musical activities and achievements. Tuition on a wide range of orchestral instruments is available and the majority of pupils learn to play at least one instrument. Musical activities come in a range of sizes, the largest of which include the Symphony Orchestra, Chamber Choir and Wind Band. The Chamber Orchestra and the Dance Band are amongst the medium sized groups whilst a smaller number of musicians make up ensembles such as the Junior Brass Group, Rock Bands and Razzamajazz Recorders. With 22 different musical groups rehearsing regularly and an average of two concerts per week, there is rarely a quiet moment in the Music School.
Pupils are encouraged to put forth ideas for new clubs and their suggestions are always very welcome. If pupils would like to discuss their ideas and make suggestions then they should contact Mr Whyte: whytewp@dauntseys.wilts.sch.uk .
