Activities and Projects Funded by DSPA

We fund or co-fund a variety of activities and items that fall outside the scope of the School’s normal remit. The general criteria for funding is that the service or item to be purchased should be enriching and developmental for pupils. Inevitably, some requests for funding rather stretch the imagination in this respect, but we strive to be fair, consistent, and properly accountable for the funds we have raised from parents at the various events.

Travel Funding Requests (Pupils are invited to submit applications for travel sponsorships to the DSPA on an annual basis)

In late November Steven Skelley, John New, Marc McFarland and John Winchcombe listened to 4 exciting and imaginative Travel Scholarship presentations.  Each of the students presented with passion and demonstrated exceptionally thorough planning.  Judging a winner was as challenging as ever!  After much discussion, the panel made an award to two students:

  • Georgie Stokes - for a research trip to Classical Greece with the objective of gathering data for a Classics Text Book for Schools
  • Nick Balls - for a study into the marine ecosystems and investigation into the effects of invasive species on Ascension Island

Congratulations and safe travels to both Georgie and Nick!
