DSPA Headmasters Question Time 2015

On Thursday 15th January 2015 the DSPA presented “DSPA Headmasters’ Question Time” The idea being to get parents together on an informal basis to ask and listen to questions posed to The Headmaster, Mark Lascelles while sharing drinks and snacks. Dauntsey’s is an ever changing landscape - as is education; so this informal function proved to be both lively and informative.

The function, held in the informal atmosphere of William Dauntsey Room with over 50 parents attending.

During the evening, Mark Lascelles expressed his vision is to run a school where every pupil is happy, encouraged to grow in confidence without arrogance. Old fashioned values being encouraged together with discipline with the ethos being of hard work and play , benefiting from all the school has to offer.

A number of questions were asked covering the following aspects:-

  • More sports for pupils not in the top teams
  • School’s outreach program
  • Manor and boarding including flexi-boarding.l
  • Tutors
  • New Pavilion, sports facilities and general development of school facilities
  • Additional A level subjects for the future

The event was a great success and the idea is for this to become an annual function, being held in January of future years.

DSPA Wine Tasting Evening 2014 & 2015.

For the third year the DSPA ran a wine and cheese experience on Thursday 19th November 2015 from 1930 in the William Dauntsey Room. As well as the wine tasting experience being presented by Casper Bowes, the DSPA  put on a lovely spread of various cheeses to be enjoyed.

We catered for drivers by offering reduced pricing for those who have made this sacrifice. Please go to the new newsletter to read all about the event DSPA Newsletter

In November 2014 the DSPA run a fun wine tasting evening for the second year.  Organised by DSPA Committee member and Treasurer Alex Gray, the William Dauntsey Room was transformed into a wonderfully intimate setting, where new friends were made over a glass of Prosecco, before the ‘serious’ part of the evening…

Caspar & Victoria Bowes specialize in discovering unusual wines from all over the world, offering them to his clients through his business ‘The Daily Drinker” – not to be taken too literally!

Always accompanied by informed comment and anecdotes, we sampled several wines ranging from Romanian and Greek Whites, to American and French reds. Inevitably, several of us had to revisit some of the bottles towards the end of the evening just to ‘make sure’.

A wonderful selection of farm cheeses and bread, plus large glugs of mineral water helped keep the palate in check for our expert assessments. A great evening, with thanks to Caspar and Victoria Bowes, and Alex Gray.
