Admission at 13+
Entry at this stage is mainly for boarders, though there are usually a limited number of day places available. That said, preference is given to boarders and, where applicable, siblings.
All prospective boarders will be invited to stay at The Manor, the Lower School boarding House, for two days in the Summer Term, four terms before their expected arrival at Dauntsey's, (i.e. when they are in Year 7). This will give prospective pupils a taste of life at Dauntsey's, and the experience should enable them to decide whether or not Dauntsey's should be their school of first choice.
The assessment dates for Third Form (Year 9) boarding entry for September 2013 are 13-15th June 2012.
During their stay, candidates will live as boarders at The Manor, attend lessons with our First Form (Year 7) and try their hand at sailing on Jolie Brise. Prospective pupils will also sit tests in English, Maths and Verbal Reasoning paper and we will also offer them an interview and thus hope to be in a position to confirm a firm place at Dauntsey's, subject to an average of 60% at Common Entrance, success in the scholarship examination, or alternative appropriate examination. If parents decide to accept this place, the usual deposit will then be required; this will be refunded if entry requirements are not met.
Prospective boarding pupils unable to attend the Taste of Boarding event in June and prospective day pupils will be invited to the School for interview and assessment in October. After assessment, we will be in a position to offer firm places, subject only to candidates reaching our required standard in Common Entrance (or an alternative appropriate examination).
Late applicants may still apply during the year preceding entry, and separate interview and assessment days will be arranged to enable us to decide whether or not we are in a position to offer places.
Application is made by completing the Registration Form and returning to the Admissions Office, together with the £100 Registration Fee. All registrations are acknowledged and prospective pupils are placed on the appropriate entry lists and invited to the appropriate assessment.
The School does not accept pupils into Year 10.
