A legacy to Dauntsey’s is one of the greatest gifts you can make. It creates a lasting testimony to your affection for Dauntsey’s and all that it stands for. Legacies provide a simple and tax efficient way of helping provide for future generations since they allow Dauntsey's to plan ahead in the full knowledge that capital sums will not only be available to fund worthwhile projects, but also to act as an insurance against an uncertain future. A legacy or bequest to the Dauntsey's School Charitable Trust is free from Inheritance Tax by virtue of the fact that the Trust is a registered charity. In practical terms, this means that any gift you make to the Dauntsey's School Charitable Trust in your Will is deducted from the value of your estate before it is assessed for Inheritance Tax. Therefore, a gift to Dauntsey's School Charitable Trust can help reduce your liability by bringing the value of your estate below the current allowable threshold. It is strongly advised that professional legal advice be sought in deciding how best to arrange your affairs. |
The Olive Society
The School believes that those who have chosen to endow that future should be both honoured and thanked in their lifetime. For this reason the Olive Society was established in 2001, named in grateful recognition of George Olive. With great vision and extraordinary dedication over 37 years as Head Master (1919 - 1955), he laid the foundations of the modern School we know today. All those who make a bequest to the School are invited to become members of the Society. The aim of the Society is to honour and thank, in their lifetime, those who endow the future of Dauntsey's School by making a bequest in favour of the School in their will.
Recognising that such a decision is often private and personal, the list of members will not be published outside the Society. However, the School will offer its thanks in a quiet and meaningful way at the annual Olive Society lunch. This will afford the opportunity to keep the members abreast of future intentions and development plans, while also drawing on their wide experience and opinion.
