Educated at Birkenhead School and St Peter's College, Oxford. Taught at Birkenhead School (1975-78) and Shrewsbury School (1978-93) where he was a Day and then a Boarding Housemaster. Founding Head Master of Chand Bagh School, Lahore, and then briefly Second Master at Dauntsey's before being offered the Headship in 1997. Married with two children, both at Dauntsey's.

To be responsible for the day-to-day management of the school and to organise special school events
To manage and co-ordinate the school's disciplinary controls
To co-ordinate Staff Appraisal and all Trips and Visits
To authorise staff absence and organise cover
To allocate budgets and monitor the spending of these budgets

To have overall responsibility for the welfare of teaching staff, including staff training and development
To manage the induction of new staff and probationary (NQT) or student teachers (PGCE)
To co-ordinate the assessment and teaching of Learning Support and TEFL
To co-ordinate all anti-bullying and child protection issues
To co-ordinate and monitor the formulation of the school's Development Plan and Staff handbook

Responsibilities

To develop and co-ordinate the School's academic policy and be the line manager for all Heads of Department
To administer all aspects of pupils' option choices
To manage the timetable preparation and, with the Deputy Director of Studies, construct the timetable
To oversee staffing levels and to ensure fair staff teaching loads and commitments
To co-ordinate, in conjunction with the Deputy Director of Studies, the School's academic administration, including Grades and Reports

Responsibilities

To have overall responsibility for behaviour and discipline in the Lower School
To oversee and support Lower School House Staff and Tutors in the pastoral care and academic progress of their pupils
To organise the distribution of information and invitations for Lower School events and oversee the events themselves
To allocate pupils to teaching groups and to co-ordinate the smooth entry of pupils into the school and that of pupils transferring from the Lower School to the Upper School
To oversee the organisation of programmes for the 11+ entrance examination and the 13+ scholarship
