Young Enterprise
L6
Meeting at lunchbreak on Friday
Economics & Business Studies Dept.
Mrs C V Wakefield & Miss A E Mansfield |
In the Young Enterprise Scheme, groups of pupils set up and run their own company, with positions and responsibilities being allocated between team members. A business plan is put together along with a mission statement and shares are sold to raise the initial finance. The team members then use enterprise to achieve their objectives. Advice is on offer from link teachers and external advisers (from local businesses) and the aim is that the pupils should learn by doing. Companies attend trade fairs and competitions throughout the year and sell goods/services at school events. Pupils also have the option to take OCR exams in this subject. All members of the Lower Sixth, irrespective of which subjects they study, are invited to apply for places in the company and ten are selected by means of a formal interview process. There is one formal board meeting each week on a Friday and further meetings may be arranged as necessary. |
