Drama is offered to all pupils in Years 7 and 8 in the form of a double lesson once a week. These sessions are largely practical in nature and involve both improvised and text-based work. We explore the valuable social skills of vocal communication, body language and status, aiming to develop individuals’ self-confidence and promote trust and teamwork within groups. The emphasis is on creativity and self-expression, but the structure and organisation of ideas is also regarded as very important. Plenty of opportunities exist outside the class-room to be involved in productions either on or off the stage, but the major production of the year for the Lower school tends to be the Junior play that is staged in the second half of the year.
