Classics

A brief description of the course followed in Year 9.

The aim of this course is to give pupils an introduction to the Classical World.  Because of the restrictions of time, we concentrate on the Greeks rather than the Romans.  We hope to foster an interest in and awareness of the history, mythology, literature, art, language and ideas of a civilisation which has given us so much.

The subject may be studied in subsequent years to GCSE and A-level.  At the end of the Third Form, pupils will have a much clearer idea of what the subject entails and will be better able to decide whether to take the subject as one of their GCSE options.
