All pupils continue to study Design and Technology in the Third Form, completing the foundation course which spans Forms 1 - 3. Strategy The core activity is problem solving largely through the process of design but also through the continuum of this process into making and evaluating. Problem-identification tends to be the responsibility of the teacher as it is important to guide the pupils towards certain processes, concepts and activity in the most efficient manner. Design briefs are given to the pupils, but a degree of flexibility is built into the system and every effort is made to foster individual response. Solutions to design problems are generated by the pupils in all instances. The course is designed to provide a foundation for further work, should a pupil opt to study Design and Technology to examination level.
