This course in Form 3 builds on the foundations laid in Forms 1 and 2 whilst developing pupils’ skills and understanding towards GCSE level.  An enquiry approach continues to be adopted, enabling pupils to enhance their ability to undertake personal research.

Term 1: Weather and Climate

An investigation into the weather and climate of Britain including the use of the school weather station to collect data, using a range of meteorological instruments.  Some amateur weather forecasting is also attempted!

Terms 2 and 3: Natural Hazards

Investigation into the occurrence of a wide range of hazards experienced across the globe.  These include hurricanes, tornadoes, earthquakes, volcanoes, global warming and avalanches.  The emphasis is on understanding the causes and appreciating the impact of these events.

During the Spring Term pupils undertake a visit to  the Earth Galleries Exhibition at the Natural History Museum in London.
