YEAR 12 CHOICES 2007-2008
New A-level and AS-level courses were introduced in 2000 with each subject having six modules. The first three modules are taken during the lower sixth year and gain an award at AS-level. The next three modules, called A2 units, are taken during the upper sixth year, leading to the full A-level award. Pupils at Dauntsey’s take four subjects at AS-level and continue with three of these at A-level; some pupils may wish to continue with all four subjects to full A-level or take an additional subject for AS level. School policy is to encourage breadth in choices, but this will not be mandatory. The following twenty-three subjects are available at both AS-level and A-level:
The popular General Studies programme adds breadth and enrichment to individual programmes of study and a course in Critical Thinking is also available. In addition to their timetabled lessons, many students participate in the wide range of academic clubs and societies. It is vitally important that, before making subject choices, pupils intending to enter higher education courses should bear in mind the particular requirements for their proposed course of study.
