The basic elements of the curriculum are:-
AIMS
The pursuit of knowledge, skills, concepts and attitudes appropriate to the age, aptitude and ability of the children is implicit throughout these aims. Physical Education ProgrammePupils have one timetabled period per week. Courses taught include: Gymnastics, Badminton, Basketball, Volleyball, Indoor and Outdoor Athletics, Tennis, Development of the Principles of Fitness and Event Training. In Swimming, the continued development of competence and stamina in the major strokes and Life-Saving, an introduction to competitive swimming training methods and snorkelling form the major part of our teaching. Games ProgrammeAll pupils have two games sessions during the week plus a third on a Saturday afternoon. There is a full range of fixtures against other schools and a comprehensive range of Inter-House Competitions. If required by the School all pupils must participate in team games. Pupils are selected by the Heads of Sport as to whether they play a Major or a Minor team sport. There are numerous opportunities for pupils to take part in Extra-Curricular Activities on a Club basis and these may include:
There is also a Duke of Edinburgh Award Club, which offers a wide range of outdoor activities and the Sailing Club which organises offshore sailing on board the historic yacht Jolie Brise, which the school maintains and operates. It is our intention that pupils should gain experience of a wide range of physical activities and develop a level of excellence in as many as possible.
