Drama Scholarships

The Drama Department at Dauntsey’s has a national reputation. The subject is popular throughout the School with many taking GCSE, AS and A Level courses. A variety of productions take place throughout the year, offering all pupils the opportunity to be involved either on stage or backstage. The December musical is one of the highlights of the school year and regularly plays to audiences of over 500 per night.

These scholarships are awarded to candidates who not only show an outstanding practical ability, but also display a passion and love of drama and a willingness to share this passion with others.

Candidates will have an audition for which two contrasting speeches of no longer than two minutes should be prepared. During the audition candidates will work with each other on a short scene, with the emphasis being on practical skill and artistic awareness.

Places are sometimes available for suitable candidates in Years 8,9 and 10 by Ad Hoc examination.

At all ages Music, Art, Sport and other significant talents will be taken into account in awarding Scholarships and places.
