The Jolie Brise All-Rounder Scholarships

Dauntsey’s is the proud owner of one of the most famous racing vessels in the world, Jolie Brise. It is fitting that Dauntsey’s prestigious All-Rounder Scholarships are named after this remarkable vessel. She is a gaff-rigged pilot cutter, built in 1913, in Le Havre, by Paumelle. Her speed and craftsmanship were evident in 1925 when she became the winner of the first ever Fastnet Race. In recent years, crewed by pupils of the School, Jolie Brise twice became the overall winner of the Tall Ships’ Race.

Jolie Brise is kept in excellent condition and all of our pupils are fortunate to have the opportunity to sail on her, should they wish to do so.

These scholarships are awarded to candidates who will make notable contributions to the School both in the classroom and beyond. They merit up to 50% remission of fees.

Candidates will have two interviews and should bring with them a portfolio of their work and achievements.
