Music Scholarships

Music is a popular subject on the school curriculum, with many pupils opting for GCSE, AS and A Level courses. The modern, well-equipped Music Technology studio is a popular feature for many pupils, a number of whom choose to study this subject in the sixth form. During a school week there are over twenty musical activities and more than 500 individual music lessons

There is something to suit everyone from informal evenings of Chamber Music to Rock Band Extravaganzas. Music is also a prominent feature of our dramatic productions in the form of both incidental music for plays and the presentation of fully-staged operas and musicals. Recent productions have included Stephen Sondheim’s Sweeney Todd, Les Misérables and HONK!

These scholarships are awarded to talented musicians in order that they may develop and broaden all aspects of their musical ability.

Candidates will have an audition for which two contrasting pieces on at least one instrument or voice should be prepared. Importance is attached to overall musical potential and enthusiasm rather than formal qualifications.
