Scholarships
Head Master’s Introduction

At Dauntsey’s we are committed to promoting and rewarding excellence in a wide range of areas. Thus we offer a number of prestigious scholarships to young people who can show us how their various talents would enrich our boarding community.

In common with all other HMC schools these scholarships are capped at a maximum of 50% of the fees. In this booklet you will find details of each type of scholarship and something of their origin, which we hope you find of interest. We very much look forward to receiving your application.

Academic Scholarships

Dauntsey’s School was founded in 1542 under the will of Alderman William Dauntesey, Master of the Worshipful Company of Mercers. The School has had the privilege of enjoying a strong affiliation with the Livery Company for over four and a half centuries, during which time the Mercers’ Company has supported the School with representatives on the Board of Governors and through a number of generous benefactions towards new developments.

The Mercers’ Scholarship – the highest academic award that merits 50% remission of fees.

The Millennium Scholarships – further academic awards for up to 50% of fees.

A significant number of smaller academic scholarships are also awarded.

Candidates are invited to stay at the Manor for three nights and take the Independent Schools’ Common Scholarship Examination in Mathematics, English, Science, History, Geography, Religious Studies, a Modern Language and Latin (optional). Candidates will also have two interviews at the end of the examinations.
