APRIL Friday 18th April 6.30 – 8.00pm (Library) Parents and Staff Drugs Education Lecture Jonnie Leach, a well respected and compelling drugs educator, will be giving a presentation on drugs to which parents are encouraged to attend. He will run workshops for pupils in the Fourth, Fifth and Sixth Form throughout the day. His lecture is for parents and staff only. Friday 25th April 1.55pm (Old Hall) Lunchtime Recital featuring Laura Gumbley A vocal recital by senior pupil, Laura Gumbley, including Italian Arias, Show Songs and a setting of five Shakespeare songs by Gerald Finzi. Saturday 26th April 9.45am (Memorial Hall) Open Day All families who are considering Dauntsey’s for their children are welcome. The programme begins with a welcome and introduction to life at Dauntsey’s from the Head Master. Guided tours of the school with current pupils follow at 10.40am and from midday there is an opportunity to meet and talk to staff over a buffet lunch. Friday 2nd May 7:00pm (Library) History Society Summer Term Lecture -“Beating the Bounds of the Parish: Ritual and Identity in Seventeenth Century England” Prof. Steve Hindle (Warwick University) is one of the leading historians of early modern English history. In this Lecture he will examine ideas of local identity in seventeenth century England, and how the rituals that marked the parish year engendered a popular sense of belonging and locality. Friday 16th May 6.30pm (The Manor) Boarding Open Evening Open to prospective pupils aged 11, 12 and 13 and their parents. The evening provides an opportunity to meet the pupils and staff of The Manor, home to Dauntsey’s Junior Boarders. The programme includes a tour of the boarding facilities and a short presentation from the Head Master. Sunday 18th May 11.00am (Main School) Dauntsey’s School Triathlon Competition The Competition consists of a 400 metre swim, a 1.55 mile cycle ride and a 0.25 mile run. Monday 19th-Wednesday 21st May 7.30pm & 4.15pm (Annabel’s) Dance Show A short narrative piece from the Junior and Senior Dance Clubs, incorporating a variety of different styles of dance based on their hopes, dreams, ambitions and fears. Wednesday 11th – Friday13 th June A Taste of Boarding Open to pupils who are currently in Year 7 who wish to board at Dauntsey’s School in September 2009. A Taste of Boarding provides an opportunity to stay at The Manor, home to our junior boarders and to experience life at Dauntsey’s School. The action-packed timetable includes sailing onboard Jolie Brise and a programme of lessons and activities.
