Boys' Hockey Tour to Amsterdam
Over the Easter holiday, Mr Collison and Mr Wheatley accompanied 14 Fifth and Sixth Form boys on a Hockey Tour to Amsterdam.
The boys enjoyed training at the Wagener Stadium, home of Amsterdam Hockey Club and one of the best clubs in Europe. They attended three mornings of skills clinics and master classes, run by Dutch Internationals. One of these sessions was run by Jamie Dwyer (Australian International and World Player of the Year in 2004, 2007 and 2009) who plays his club hockey in Holland. This was a marvellous opportunity for all concerned.
The squad also played three matches against Dutch club sides as there is no school hockey as such in Holland. All were tough but keenly contested matches. After losing the first match (7-0) the team played a similar standard team on the Wednesday and playing much better to draw 2-2 in a wonderful match in front of a big crowd. The last match against Naarden Mens 1st XI was a tight match which the team lost 3-1 despite a dominant second half performance.
The boys also enjoyed a canal cruise and some sightseeing in Amsterdam. The weather was superb, and a great time was had by all.
