Brecons Challenge 2010
On Sunday 27th June, 16 Lower Sixth Form pupils competed in pairs in the annual Dauntsey's Brecons Challenge competition in the Brecon Beacons National Park in Wales.
The triathlon event tests the pupils stamina and fitness and involves a 12km run with 800 metres of ascent, a mountain biking stage of 18km, followed by an 8 km paddle along the Monmouth canal back into Brecon. As usual the weather was superb. The initial run to the top of Pen y fan was slightly misty but then the sun burst through for the rest of the day and there were some outstanding performances given the very hot conditions.
Results
1st ladies - Charlie Hanson and Milly Daly.
1st mixed pair- Kristen Roberts and Rory Collett (only 40 seconds outside the record).
1st Overall- Harry Tawney and Sam Evans who also won the individual mountain running, cycling and kayaking stages.
