Pupil awarded a Bulkeley-Evans HMC* Scholarship
|
Congratulations to the pictured Sixth Form pupil, who has been awarded one of this year's Bulkeley-Evans HMC Scholarships for 2010-2011. He has been awarded the sum of £400 to help fund his plans to spend 10 weeks of his gap year on the Fijian island of Moturiki where he will be working and living within the local community. He will partake in building projects and will work in local schools where he will be involved in sports coaching (particularly introducing cricket to the locals), teaching English and Drama, and creating plays for Church services and a Youth Festival. One of the conditions of the award is that he will come back to talk to the Sixth Form about his experiences, will write a report, and keep in touch with the Trustees of the Bulkeley-Evans Scholarship Fund throughout his time away. Every year some 30 Bulkeley-Evans HMC Scholarships are awarded to support pupils in their gap year projects. These must have a tangible benefit to the local community within the country they are travelling in. Click here for further details on the Bulkeley-Evans HMC Scholarship. |
