Inter-House Cross Country & Minor Sports Festival
The Inter-House Cross Country and Minor Sports Festival was held in beautiful sunshine on the morning and afternoon of Friday 26th September. One of the largest internal sports events of the year, the day was a resounding success with most pupils either taking part in the various Cross Country races or playing chess, table tennis, volleyball, hockey, water polo, lacrosse, darts, football or squash in the Minor Sports Festival.

248 pupils ran in the Lower School Cross Country, and medals were presented to the male and female winners in each year group. Scott came first overall (81 points), followed by Rendell (80 points), Forbes (79 points) and The Manor (74 points).
272 pupils participated in the Minor Sports Festival (Forms 4 - U6) with Jeanne House coming first amongst the girls' houses and with Farmer House winning the competition for the boys' houses.
136 pupils ran the Intermediate and Senior Cross-Country and this year Jeanne won both the 4/5th Form and Sixth Form Girls' races and Farmer won both the 4/5th Form and Sixth Form Boys' races. Lambert House won the Upper School Girls' Relay and Hemens won the Upper School Boys' Relay.
The final race of the cross country competition was the Staff/Parents race which saw a good turnout of both parents and members of the common room. The Ladies' race was won by parent Mrs C Arnold, and the Mens' was won by member of staff Mr A Sheffield. Medals were presented to all the individual winners of each race by the Head Master, and all participants were awarded a certificate on the day.
The event took place in brilliant sunshine and in an atmosphere of friendly competition and good humour. The catering staff kept all participants, parents and visitors well fed with a delicious barbeque lunch - a perfect end to a successful day and the perfect start to the exeat weekend.
