Evita
From Tuesday 2nd to Saturday 6th December, 245 Dauntsey's pupils performed Evita. Granted special permission by Andrew Lloyd Webber and his company The Really Useful Group, the cast, crew and orchestra produced five performances which sold out in two weeks of being publicised - over 2750 seats! It was an enormous undertaking: challenging, yet hugely satisfying, for those involved.
This is the first time Evita has been released for general performance. David Robinson, Head of Licensing of The Really Useful Group saw Thursday's performance, and called it "A fantastic performance." He said it was "wonderful to see so many people enjoying themselves. The authors would be thrilled to hear how well the show went." Poppy in the lead role, Tom as Perón and Jonathan as Che deserve special credit for leading the huge cast in this memorable and engaging musical that once again showed the high standards of the Music and Drama Departments.
