German Trip to Lindau
Over half-term 30 Upper School pupils spent a wonderful week in Lindau. This was the German Department’s second trip to the beautiful Bavarian town – part of which is on an island in Lake Constance.
Mornings were spent in intensive German lessons at the Dialoge Sprachinstitut – the equivalent of half a term’s lessons in four sessions! The pupils impressed the teachers with their enthusiasm for the language – and all of them made great progress during the week. They stayed in pairs with local families and also had plenty of time for exploring the town. The weekend and a couple of afternoons were spent as a group on various excursions (we cycled to Austria, trekked in the High Alps, and watched High School Musical 3 in German!) The mountain air combined with the “outdoorsy” nature of some of the trips meant they all slept very well!
We plan to make the Lindau trip an annual event, so that all pupils have the opportunity to go once before their GCSE exam and then again in the Sixth Form if they continue with German.
