Iceland Trip

Exploring the glacier

A party of 44 Upper Sixth students and staff had a fantastic five days in Iceland over half term. They visited waterfalls, faults lines, the rift valley, power stations and a folk museum. They bathed in geothermally heated pools under the moonlight, had snowball fights on the high lava plateauand explored a glacier. Equipped with crampons and ice axes, they crossed crevasses and avoided "moulins"- deep holes in the ice made by meltwater - as their guides led them on an exciting two hour walk.
