Lower School Music Festival
This year's Lower School Music Festival has enjoyed great success. The heats held throughout the first weeks in October saw a staggering 330 entries in total with a fantastic effort from everyone involved. The final points meant that Forbes came fourth (114), Rendell third (121), Scott second (155) and the Manor was the winning house with 203 points. The Manor Music Captains Carol Chau and Alston Cheun collected the cup in morning assembly.
Individual winners from the above heats then took part in the Individual Winners' Concert on Monday 20th October. There were 23 stunning and very varied performances which impressed the adjudicator, local distinguished musician Martin Alford. It was a difficult decision, and he eventually awarded four 'Highly Commended' prizes to:
· Angus White: Voice singing The Hateful Colour by Schubert
· Fukina Sawa: Piano playing Polonaise by Chopin
· Sam Dawson: Violin playing Cossack Dance by Kraemar
· Archie Combe: Voice singing The Ugly Duckling by Loesser
Congratulation to them all and to the overall winner, Freddie, who gave a highly captivating performance of Stars from Les Misérables.
