Primary Schools' Hockey Festival
The Dauntsey’s Sports Outreach Programme is now in its fifth year and has just expanded, incorporating four new primary schools this term. Dauntsey’s sports staff now travel to ten primary schools in the community, providing regular, hourly timetabled sports coaching sessions to over 340 children. This term’s hockey coaching culminated in the Primary Schools' Mini-Hockey Festival on Saturday 6th December. Hosted by Dauntsey’s, the festival enabled 186 primary school pupils to show off their newly learned skills and talents in an atmosphere of friendly rivalry. Throughout the morning, a total of 44 games were played, and over 110 goals were scored.
Congratulations to Rowde Primary School who were the overall winners of the festival; the Chairman of Governors, Richard Handover CBE, presented the team members with the Sports Outreach Trophy at the prize ceremony. Congratulations also to the Rowde Foxes for winning the A Division (runners up were DAPS Lions) and to the Seend Komodo Dragons for winning the B Division (runners up were All Canning Sharks).
The ten participating schools were as follows:
All Cannings Primary School, Bishops Canning Primary School, Dauntsey’s Aided primary School (West Lavington), Five Lanes Primary School ( Worton), Holy Trinity Primary School (Great Cheverell), Rowde Primary School, Seend Primary School, St Barnabas Primary School (Market Lavington), St Josephs Primary School (Devizes) and Urchfont Primary School.
