    Pupils Stand Up Against Poverty

Pupils and Staff come together to STAND UP against poverty

On Friday 17th October, pupils and staff at Dauntsey's made a stand against poverty.

The world wide Stand Up Against Poverty campaign aims to draw attention to the Millennium Development Goals and the targets that world leaders set for 2015.

Sixth Formers organised the event to join others around the globe to help set a new world record of the number of people standing up to demand action on poverty.

Vishal (Dauntsey's prefect) explained: "We stand here as members of the generation that intends to defeat extreme poverty. We stand up because we are asking not for charity but justice - We need Governments to fight to keep the Millennium Development Goals - the promises they made for debt cancellation, more and better aid, trade rules that help fight poverty and action to curb climate change."
