Successful Start to Sports Season
The start of this term's sports season got off to a good start, with an almost clean sweep of victories for the School's hockey and rugby teams. An impressive 13 out of 15 home and away matches were won.
Girls' Hockey:
The girls' hockey teams had their first fixture against King Edward's Southampton. Of the six matches played, five were won, with 13 goals scored. The 1st XI performed very well, dominating possession for long periods and creating a number of good opportunities. The 2nds, 15A's and 14A's all won 2-1, the 13A's played with determination but unfortunately lost 3-1, whilst the 12A's produced a strong all-round team display to win comfortably, by 4-0.
Boys' Rugby:
The boys' rugby teams played their first block fixture against King's Bruton, with eight out of nine matches won.The 1st XV were the only team to lose as they came up against a very strong Bruton side, who had recruited a number of sports scholars over the summer. The 2nd and 3rd XVs faired better with convincing wins. The 2nd XV won their match convincingly by 29-5, and the 3rds victory of 59-0 was an excellent start to their season. The Colts A team had another convincing win by 44 points to 14, and the Colts Bs won their match 69-0. The Under 15As won 53-0 and the Under 15Bs won 19-5. Finally, the Under 14s had their first matches of the season at home, with the A team winning 32-0 and the B team winning 51-0.
