Jolie Brise: Final Update
Home and dry after 18 days at sea
Jolie Brise crossed the finishing line of the Tall Ships Atlantic Challenge at 21:12 on Friday 7th August after sailing some 7000 miles and crossing the Atlantic Ocean twice. The crew then sailed through the night to Ballycastle where the Headmaster met them with a copious supply of champagne. The boat is now being cleaned and scrubbed (and repaired) and will set sail again on Tuesday bound for Belfast and four days of celebration along with the rest of the Tall Ships fleet. Stewart Roberts, Headmaster, told the crew how proud he was of their fantastic achievement and not least of the courage and seamanship shown during their passage through some of the stormiest seas that Jolie Brise has ever experienced. The crew in turn showed their appreciation of skipper, Toby Marris, and first mate, Adam Seager, without whom none of this would have been possible. After a substantial breakfast, which included full Ulster fry with knickerbocker glory to follow, the crew will continue to celebrate at a local restaurant tonight.
