We are delighted to report that Jolie Brise and her crew are enjoying a brief visit to New York, as they make their way from Charleston in South Carolina to Halifax, Nova Scotia where they will meet up with the rest of the Tall Ships fleet.

They seemed to have timed their arrival perfectly: "We all did a bit of shopping before returning to the pier for dinner, then settled down to watch an amazing fireworks display for the 4th July celebrations. We had one of the best views from the boat because it happened on the river right in front of us."

Jolie Brise is due to arrive in Halifax by 16th July in time for a change of crew and to prepare for the final race back across the Atlantic from Halifax to Belfast, departing on 20th July. This is arguably the most challenging route of all and the intrepid crew of eight pupils will cover some 2,350 miles before reaching Belfast by 13th August.

Thanks to the latest Global Positioning System (GPS) and satellite communications technology onboard, friends and family are able to follow Jolie Brise's progress throughout the summer by logging on to the Jolie Brise website: www.joliebrise.com where the crew will be logging regular reports and posting up photos as they go.
