Swine Flu - Advisory Notice.
We continue to monitor the Swine Flu outbreak, so that we are able to react appropriately should the situation deteriorate substantially or if there is any likelihood of a direct impact on the school. Our current measures are mainly passive, including increasing awareness of the need for good hygiene measures, noting advice and information from the Health Authorities and reviewing our contingency plans.
The general advice from the Health Authorities is that they have now changed the approach from a 'containment phase' to the 'treatment phase'. This means that:
- GPs will be able to diagnose swine flu on the basis of patients' symptoms rather than waiting for laboratory testing.
- The routine tracing of people who have come into contact with confirmed cases of swine flu will end.
- The School will only close if local circumstances warrant it, for example if a significant number of pupils, teachers or bursarial staff are ill.
The vast majority of cases reported so far in this country have been mild with only a small number leading to serious illness, and these have frequently been where patients have had underlying health problems. If you or your child becomes unwell please contact your Family GP or NHS DIRECT on 0845 46 47 they will be able to advise you as to your next course of action and how to access the appropriate treatment. Please ensure you inform the School if you are given treatment during the half term break
If you have any immediate concerns about Swine Flu relating to Dauntsey's please seek advice from Sister Susan Crawford at the Sanatorium on 01380 814576 or via email: crawfosj@dauntseys.wilts.sch.uk
We do ask that parents/guardians keep the School informed of any changes to their contact details; email, mobile etc so that should there be a need we can get in touch quickly.
We will continue to update the website as necessary with any advice or information as the situation develops.
