Jolie Brise Wins Tall Ships Race Series 2011
We are delighted to announce that Jolie Brise has been declared the overall winner of the Tall Ships Race Series 2011.
Jolie Brise set off from Waterford in Ireland with a crew of ODs at the beginning of July for the first race to Greenock. Pupils then took over as crew for the Cruise-in-Company from Greenock to Lerwick and for Race Two – Lerwick to Stavanger in Norway and for Race Three – Stavanger to Halmstad.
Over the last month the 87 participating vessels have faced a wide variety of racing conditions and have experienced some thrilling and exhilarating sailing but they have also had to contend with many frustrating and challenging times in the light and variable winds.
The final prize giving ceremony took place in the sunny Swedish city of Halmstad on the 6th August in front of cheering Captains, crews and public. Jolie Brise won the entire Race Series and Captain, Toby Maris, took the entire crew on stage to accept the award and to lift the trophy much to cheers and delights of the crew and crowd.
Jolie Brise is currently cruising the Baltic but heading homewards via Gdynia in Poland, Bornholm in Denmark,Copenhagen in Denmark, Rostock in Germany, through the Kiel Canal visiting the Dutch and Frisian Islands, then through the Dutch Ijsselmeer to Amsterdam, across the Southern North Sea to London before sailing home to Hamble, Southampton.

Final Results Overall:
1. Jolie Brise, Class B (first in class). Corrected Time: 3 days, 16 hrs, 40mins and 4 secs. Elapsed Time: 5 days, 20 mins, 8 hrs and 20 seconds.
2. St Iv, Class C (first in class). Corrected Time: 4 days, 4 hrs, 40 mins and 4 sec. Elapsed Time: 5 days, 23 hrs, 42 mins and 34 seconds.
3. Tecla, Class B (second in class). Corrected Time: 4 days, 09 hrs, 25 mins and 36 secs. Elapsed Time: 5 days, 21 hours, 24 mins and 17 secs.

Class A: Wylde Swan, Netherlands. Combined CT - 4 days 18 hours 23 mins 39 secs
Class B: Jolie Brise, UK. Combined CT - 3 days 16 hours 40 mins 4 secs
Class C: St Iv, Estonia. Combined CT - 4 days 4 hours 40 mins 4 secs
Class D: Tomidi, Belgium. Combined CT - 5 days 6 hours 4 mins 4 secs
