Multi-Activity Expedition on the Isle of Ske
Twenty two members of the Fifth and Sixth Forms spent the first two and a half weeks of the summer holiday on a multi-activity expedition to the Isle of Skye, each group spending four days rock climbing, sea kayaking, and trekking. Although the weather was consistently poor, Skye offers the finest adventure opportunities in Britain, and the professionalism of the instructing team and the students' own enthusiasm and commitment enabled them to enjoy an unforgettable experience. Breaks in the rain enabled a number of them to scale some of the most famous peaks in the Cuillin, including the Cioch and the Inaccessible Pinnacle, while all the students had the opportunity to explore some of the remotest and wildest coastline by kayak, while marvelling at the abundance of sea-life, and stretch their legs and minds on the famous Trotternish Ridge. Coming at the end of a long school year, and departing five hours after the end of the school's Summer Ball, it was a major undertaking, but life-long memories will have been formed and seeds undoubtedly sown for further adventure!
