Gilliat Prize for singing

On Wednesday evening, after a very high standard of competition, Miranda Bardsley was awarded the Gilliat Prize for singing, performing ‘Come raggio di sol’ Caldara andDu bist die Ruh’ Schubert.

The competition, founded in the memory and honour of Beryl Gilliat, (by her husband, the film director Sydney Gilliat) is for vocalists in the Fourth Form and above and thought by many to be a highlight of the year’s music.

Adjudicator Shean Bowers, who is Assistant Director of Music at Bath Abbey praised the students for their high quality performances and hoped to be able to work with us in the future to develop choral and solo singing to even higher standards.
