Evensong at Bristol Cathedral

On Thursday 29 September the Senior Choir travelled to Bristol Cathedral to sing Evensong on the day of St Michael and All Saints.

It was the first time the choir had visited this establishment to sing, so everyone was looking forward to the experience. The choir sang Brewer’s Magnificat and Nunc Dimittis as well as John Reading’s settings of the Preces and Responses with Mr Sims as an excellent Cantor, with Psalms by Ley and McWilliam. The final anthem, Give Us The Wings Of Faith, by Ernest Bullock was delivered with lovely attention to the dynamics and changes in tempo.

The pizza after the service finished the day of very nicely. We look forward to further services during the year. Thanks to all choir members for performing so well, to Mr Gordon for beautiful organ playing and to Mr Sims and Mr Irving for their singing. Mrs Cooper chaperoned wonderfully to ensure we all made it to the right place at the right time.
