Gilliat Prize for Singing 2016

On Wednesday evening, after a very high standard of competition, Miranda Bardsley was awarded the Gilliat Prize for singing, performing Mozart’s Das Veilchen and The Cherry Hung with Snow by Colin Ross.

The competition, founded in the memory and honour of Beryl Gilliat, (by her husband, the film director Sydney Gilliat) is for vocalists in the Fourth Form and above, and thought by many to be a highlight of the year’s music.

Adjudicator Richard Rowntree, who is Head of Singing at Bryanston School praised the students for their high quality performances and said choosing a winner had been a difficult decision.

Congratulations to Miranda.

The finalists this year were: Sadie Mutton, Angharad Harris, Alex Clothier, Natalie Wu, Francesca McClean, Ben Harding, Mischa Jardine, Izzy McKellar, Hermione Owen
