Lower School Music Competition and Concert
Congratulations to Bea Watts for her performance of You Took My World from the musical Ghost, which won the Lower School Music Competition.
Competitors were chosen following solo performances to the Houses at the start of the week. The range of instruments was impressive, as was the variety of style of music chosen. The adjudicator for the final competition was George Bevan, Director of Music at Monkton Combe School, who complimented all pupils on the standard of their playing and singing. Felix Lailey, Emma Kellar and Kade Sunderland also received much praise and alongside Bea, performed the next day in the final concert performance in front of the Lower Houses and parents.
The final concert was a great success. Pupils sang with their Houses with great enthusiasm, accompanied by Mr Sims, Mr Irving, Mr Gordon and the sixth form band. Each year group came together on the day to create a large scale performance of a piece they had learned in class. The new show choir showcased their talents and anticipate many more members joining following this great performance. Finally, we all joined together to sing a medley from the Jungle Book.
Thanks must go to Mr Herring and his team, Mr Sims and his team, Mr Chick and team and Mr Childs and the catering team for enabling such a large event to take place so smoothly with such excellent technical support.
