Pupils at The Manor have had a very busy second half of this Autumn Term. Here is a fun-filled summary of some of the activities that the children have enjoyed.
On Sunday 6 November, we enjoyed the Manor Bonfire and Fireworks Night. The pupils carved pumpkins and made cookies and toffee apples to sell during the evening. The bonfire and fireworks themselves were fantastic and the evening raised £832 for the school charity, Wiltshire Air Ambulance.
On Sunday 20 November The Manor pupils had their ‘Art Day’, with some excellent contributions from all the boys and girls. Many of these are now displayed around the House for residents and visitors to enjoy.
On Sunday 4 December the pupils had a trip to the Bath Christmas Markets. They were able to get some Christmas shopping done, including ‘Secret Santa’ gifts for their friends in the House, and it was a fun day out for everyone.
Throughout the last few weeks, under the watchful eye of Mrs ‘Mary Berry’ Sampson, the Manor pupils have been baking and decorating Christmas cakes for the annual bake-off. The results were all beautiful and creative, and the Headmaster had a very hard time in his judging. The overall winners were Amy Colyer and Maria Smith.
On Sunday 11 December we all really enjoyed our Manor Advent Concert. There was a wonderful list of performers, who all practised diligently in the run up to the event, with instrumentalists, singing and some dramatic monologues.
The front hall of The Manor was packed, with over 80 guests enjoying the evening’s entertainment.
Throughout this half of term there have been weekly ‘treat nights with the Hursts’, as well as various Tutor group outings and evenings; these are always much anticipated events for The Manor boys and girls. The dorms who have won the most treat nights are B10 for the boys, and G3 for the girls, so well done to them!
Twice during the term, a group of third formers enjoyed a meal with the Hursts as part of ‘The Manor Third Form Dining Carousel’. They have a good catch up about school and The Manor. There will be many more such gastronomic catch-ups with The Manor Houseparents next term and in the summer.
We are very much looking forward to our Manor Christmas dinner and party which will take place this Wednesday 14 December.
It has been a fantastic Autumn Term, and everyone now thoroughly deserves their Christmas break with their families!
