The Challenge – Swimathon 2016
Well done to the 71 pupils who participated in our ‘swimathon’ just before Half-term. It was great to see the Dauntsey’s spirit in action. We are hoping to raise over £1000 for this year’s school charity ‘Malaria No More’.
56 motivated Upper School pupils as well as 9 members of staff participated overnight on Thursday 11 February from 8.15pm to 8.15am. Everyone who swam was absolutely fantastic and the atmosphere was brilliant throughout. There were also 15 Lower School pupils who swam for an hour earlier in the evening, adding 450 lengths between them.
In total, the team covered a distance of 236 Km, the equivalent of swimming from Devizes to Liverpool. So far, we have raised £875 but people can still donate using the link below. Thank you for your support.
Malaria No More
Malaria kills one child every two minutes. Every day malaria hits the very poorest communities hardest, and the most vulnerable within them like expectant mums and children under five at the most at risk. It keeps kids out of school, adults out of work, and communities stuck in a cycle of poverty they can’t escape, overwhelming countries and continents.
