Fourth and Fifth Form Art Trip to London
Fourth and Fifth Form Art students took an early coach to London on Tuesday 31 January to view compelling artworks at two galleries.
The first stop was the Tate Britain, which is the home of British art from 1500 to the present day. It houses a substantial collection of work including painting, prints and sculpture. Students enjoyed exploring the inspirational architecture, exhibitions and book shop.
Following a travelling lunch students arrived at the V&A – the world’s leading museum of art and design, which hosts a vibrant and wonderfully eclectic collection of objects and artefacts from around the world.
First hand experience of works of art is an essential aspect of the GCSE course, as is recording personal impressions of the world which surrounds us. This trip allowed students to gather information via notes and sketches, which will be of great value to their current projects and areas of study.
