Manor Round-Up

Pupils at The Manor have once again had a very busy first half of term. Here is a summary of some of the activities that the children have enjoyed.

Treat night and the First Form cinema trip took place on Friday 13 January –La La Land was a big hit…as was the pizza they had afterwards!

Mrs Hurst’s Treasure Hunt was a big success on Sunday 15 January, with The Manor boys and girls tearing around the grounds to find more clues, chocolate, more chocolate, and ultimately, to emerge as winners of the Hunt! The winners were Second Formers Sofia, Annabelle, Olivia, Lucy and Henry.

On Sunday 22 January some Manorites joined the Lower School Paintballing Trip whilst the rest will enjoyed relaxing time at The Manor went to Devizes to the skate park or for some light shopping.

Many agree that the main event this half of term was The Manor Pub Quiz on Wednesday 25 January, organised again this year by Mrs Hurst. Ten teams competed, with ‘The Manor Spicy Sportsmen’ emerging as the eventual winners on 46 points after 6 gruelling rounds. ‘Manor House Hippies’ were close on their heels with 45.5

Many of our boys and girls thoroughly enjoyed the Chinese New Year Dinner on Wednesday 1 February up at the main school, with Chinese food aplenty and a great fireworks display.

The Third Form Supper Carousel has continued this half of term, with 6 students joining the Hursts for supper and have included some interesting and entertaining conversation, as ever!

On Sunday 5 February The Manor pupils enjoyed an ice skating trip and a brief shopping stop-off in Marlborough.

Many of The Manor boys and girls enjoyed the Mercer’s Lecture by Mariella Frostrup on Tuesday 7 February who gave a talk entitled What you wont find on Google. The talk was empowering and entertaining, and delivered a powerful message about self-belief.

This past Wednesday our pupils had a brilliant time at the Lower School Valentine’s Disco with lots of dancing and fun.

We have had tutor group outings, and treat nights have been taking place on Fridays, with the Lower Sixth Prefects giving their recommendations for who will earn their hot chocolate, popcorn and movie in the Hursts’ living room.

It has been a fantastic start to the Spring Term and we hope that everyone has a happy and restful half term break.
