Creative writing for the Fourth Form
On Tuesday, the entire Fourth Form came together at the Manor to enjoy a refreshing morning of poetry, performance, and creativity.
Retired teacher, Mr Vernon-Jones, began the morning with a plethora of poetry from authors such as Thomas Hardy and Carol Ann Duffy to get the pupils into the mindset of imagery, meaning, and detail. After his engaging performances, the pupils made good use of the Manor grounds, taking inspiration from its setting to write their own poetry, from haikus to villanelles to slam poetry, with guidance from their teachers. This work culminated in wonderful performances of what they had written, with contributions from Henry Hill, Joe Fortune, Eliot Johnson, Quentin Choi, William Edwards, Conor O’Kelly, Joe Stratford and others.
