French Trip to Toulouse

The Senior School French trip was amazing! We set off from school at 09:00 on the Sunday morning for a two hour trip to the airport, and I felt great as I was really looking forward to the trip.

The journey to Toulouse was quick and easy. When I arrived at Toulouse airport, I was warmly greeted by my host for the week. She was a lovely lady and I really appreciated her hospitality. The journey back to the French house started the week well, and we continued to talk and to improve our French throughout the trip.

Toulouse is a beautiful city in the south of France. It is the fourth largest city in France and the most beautiful part of the city is the river Garonne which enhances the stunning views of the city. You can stand for a while, and admire the view of this river and its ornate bridges over and over again.

In addition, we had French lessons every morning which, in my opinion, were extremely beneficial to my French. This couldn’t have been done without the continuous support of our French teacher Jordi. He was kind and compassionate; he made the lessons fun and planned every part of the lessons meticulously. The lesson I enjoyed the most was based around a role play crime activity, where we could interrogate each other as part of an imaginary murder investigation. We all got to play the role of the detective.

My favorite excursion was to the medieval city of Carcassonne. This city is breath taking and the history behind the castle is incredible.

The most enjoyable moment of the whole trip for me was when Miss Harrison and Mrs Davey treated us all to ice creams in the beautiful Toulouse Square, Place du Capitole (mine was raspberry and mango flavoured!)

I would definitely recommend the Toulouse trip to future pupils as it is really fun, you get to practise your French every day and you learn so much about French culture and cuisine whilst staying in this fabulous and sunny city.
