ART TRIP TO NEW YORK
Galleries and Burgers in the Big Apple
The Art Department organised a trip to New York over the half term break; below is Kristen and Charlie's account of the trip:
It was a straightforward seven hour flight to the Big Apple, after which we took a coach to the Edison Hotel where we were to stay for the next four days. Fortunately, Times Square was just around the corner and it was only a short walk fromthe famous Fifth Avenue. After huge breakfasts of bacon and pancakes topped with syrup, we made our way to the various art galleries: the Moma, Guggenheim, the Metropolitan and the scenic Frick. Having taken in the artistic ambience of each gallery, we made our way to the big shopping attractions, including: Bloomingdales, Macy's and Abercrombie & Fitch, where we spent all our parents' money!
In the evenings we were given free time to 'soak up' the New York nightlife, and we enjoyed exploring Times Square and ice-skating at the famous Rockefeller Centre; we had a great time. On the last night, we all went out for a meal at Planet Hollywood where we felt like real celebs! Dining amongst the likes of Rob Pattison's tux and Leonardo De Caprio's 'Titanic' number, we feasted on a gross amount of burgers, chips and brownies mmmmm.! Overall it was an amazing trip and, despite the bitterly cold weather, we made the most of an incredible city.
