British Physics Olympiad 2009
Pupils win awards
Towards the end of the autumn term, a number of Sixth form physicists entered the British Physicis Olympiad Paper 2, and a number of them have been achieved a significant award.
Cameron S received a Gold medal, Jilly T, Donald W, Jack T were all awarded Bronze I and Duncan L received a Commendation. Congratulations to them all.
Cameron's Gold is a significant achievement: approximately 1000 pupils are entered for the Paper 2 Competition each year, and up to 50 Gold medals are awarded. Therefore, only the top 5% of entrants achieve a Gold medal. Cameron will now take part in Paper 3, the next stage of the British Physics Olympiad. The top 15 pupils in the Paper 3 exam will then be invited to a 3-day training camp at Abingdon School, after which five will be selected to represent the British Team that competes in the International Physics Olympiad in Mexico in July. We wish him luck for the next stage.
